Critical Thinking

For the record I am a first year M.B.A student. My undergrad degree is in Political Science and at one time I had intentions of going to Law School. In the winter on 2008 I took a position as a Dispatcher at Diebold Inc's Event Monitoring Center. I was promoted after a year to the position of Programming Support Specialist, the year after that I was promoted as the supervisor of that group as well as various support staff. My current title is Technical Supervisor and I am responsible for 16 subordinates and handle all technical aspects of the Event Monitoring Center.

I soon realized that within Diebold there was 2 general paths that I could take to further my career, either IT or Business. While I have an IT background from my time in the US Navy I came to the conclusion that my real talents lie in personnel management and decision making in the overall direction of the operation. I have a solid understanding of the technical aspects of my position, but there is still a great deal for me to learn.

I am writing this blog as a requirement for the first class of the M.B.A program (Critical Thinking) at Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio. Future posts will consist of current issues confronting the Physical Security/Life Safety industry.
